04 - 2016/05/09

Last week, I decided to push this list because it felt a little too short and I'm so happy with what I've got for you this week. This is definitely the most electronic-heavy playlist yet, but even within that, the spectrum of sounds here will have something to please any palate ;)

Flight Facilities - Live w/ Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

After releasing their hit debut album, "Down to Earth," Flight Facilities teamed up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to hold a one-night-only concert. I love this idea--it's been a dream of mine to do one day--and Flight Facilities execute perfectly. Their breathy, relaxed electronic music flourishes with the orchestra arrangement and a great lineup of vocalists put the cherry on top. You don't hear something like this very often.
Musts: Sunshine (ft. Reggie Watts), Clair De Lune (ft. Owl Eyes), Apollo (ft. Katie Noonan)

Wolfgang Gartner - 10 Ways to Steal Home Plate

Wolfgang Gartner is one of my biggest influences in electro-house ever. To find out he had returned from an extended break with a new album was so exciting and "10 Ways" delivers in myriad ways. One of the pinoeers of modern electro-house is back.
Musts: Turn up (ft. Wiley & Trina), Hurrican Slurricane (ft. DaM FunK & E-40), Up in Smoke (ft. A-Trak & Sirah)

Santigold - 99 Cents

I don't really know Santigold much at all as an artist, but "99 Cents" ended up being the album with the most tracks I loved. It's hard to pin down any one genre here, but bouncing between rap, pop, psych-rock, and more make the album feel disjointed, even if the music in it is stellar.
Musts: Rendezvous Girl, Outside the War, Can't Get Enough of Myself (ft. B.C)

80kidz - 5

80kidz, the faceless Japanese electronic duo, have a way of blending rock sensibilities into their club-ready dance music. "5" came out a few months ago and features a couple new departures in the indie-pop "J.M.F." and the full-out rock song "Middle of Anywhere." There's an impeccable-ness to their production that can't be mistaken.
Musts: J.M.F. (ft. Maika Loubte), Good and Best (ft. Antoine Hilaire), Vias, Ciao
